The following Region-Specific Rules are added to the Generic ACM ICPC Regional Rules:

Region

The NCNA region includes Minnesota, Wisconsin, Western Ontario, Manitoba, Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, and the UP of Michigan.

1. Attendance Rules

  1. All team members are expected to attend contest activities, including
    • Communications checkout and online warmup (before the contest)
    • Opening and Closing ceremonies
  2. During the Contest:
    • No adjustments/allowances will be made to the team or the late team member—the Contest will end 5 hours after it starts.
    • No recap of the information provided at the practices or at the Opening ceremonies will be provided, and no consideration (time or any other) will be given if any of that information is requested and cannot be provided in a timely manner.

2. General Rules for the Online Contest

  1. The competition will be run under the honor system, according to academic standards of conduct.
  2. The expected start time is 1 pm CST. There will be NO adjustment for geographical time zones.
  3. Each team member will be permitted to compete from home or on campus. "Home" is defined as the location where the student can safely spend the duration of the contest according to local COVID-19 restrictions. We understand that home could be an apartment, dorm, house, etc. Home might very well be abroad in the student's nation of origin.
  4. A rehearsal of the regionals with  Question&Answer sessions occurred on Sunday Feb 21, a few days prior to the competition. This permitted the establishment of communications between the student, the contest staff, his/her computer, and the contest environment.
  5. Practice on Kattis is available to the contestants from Friday 5 pm to noon on Saturday (Day of Contest). This will help ensure that students' submissions count towards their teams' submissions and to help students become familiar with the Kattis submission and clarification process.
  6. Behavioral Standards
    • One workstation per team member is allowed.  This differs from the onsite competition with a limitation of one workstation per team.
    • Teams may build up a library of routines and code prior to the contest. This differs from the onsite competition where every team starts with an empty home directory.
    • During the competition, teams may communicate about the contest only with their team members and contest officials.
      • No member of your team will communicate in person, or electronically with anyone (including coaches) who is not a part of the same team during the contest, except for the official methods of communicating with the contest management team through Kattis (submissions, and clarifications); the Team-Help Zoom meeting (for technical help), or by emailing the account ncna.regional at gmail dot com (for technical help).
      • No member of your team will leave a post, comment, etc. on any website during the contest. This also includes live-streaming your coding.
    • Teams are permitted to use electronic and/or physical (e.g. book) resources available to them during the competition. This includes online resources available to the general public.
    • Teams may NOT use fee-, institution specific-, or restricted subscription-based resources, such as restricted access journals, upgraded websites requiring payments, etc.
